Landlords, do you know your gas safety obligations?

Landlords, of both public and private sector properties, have a commitment to maintaining the safety of gas appliances for their tenants. The affects of carbon monoxide poisoning, a potential result of ill-fitted or faulty gas equipment, has been well documented, causing sickness and in some cases, death. Beyond endangering tenants' lives, landlords are legally obliged to make sure gas appliances are serviced on an annual basis.

To help landlords, specifically of social housing properties, Logic Certification has launched a new course: Level 4 QCF Award in Gas Safety Management in social housing. Designed for senior staff, it provides in-depth training for those with a responsibility for ensuring gas safety, covering carbon monoxide detection and poisoning, as well as general health and safety, regulations and paperwork, as well as legalities. The course can be tailored to suit individual candidates' needs, i.e. utilising distance learning or training on specific sites.

With carbon monoxide alarms more widely used and the dangers of faulty gas equipment well documented, there is no excuse for dangerous gas appliances. Cutting corners could have tragic consequences."

In addition to the manager qualification, Logic Certification has also launched a gas safety awareness course for anyone assisting landlords and social housing managers, such as customer facing Housing Association employees and supporting maintenance staff: Level 2 QCF Award in Gas Safety Awareness in Social Housing.
